アメリカのエレクトロニックポップ、またはハイパーポップと括られるジャンルで活躍するデュオとして人気な100gecsの2ndアルバム、10000gecsからの2ndシングル。
この曲のタイトルとなっているドリトスとフリートスはどちらも人気のスナック菓子ですが、2020年に亡くなったレジェンドラッパーのMF Doomの有名なライン、”And get more cheese than Doritos, Cheetos or Fritos”(ドリトス、チートス、フリートスよりも沢山のチーズ=金をゲットする) に意図的か結果的にかは不明ですが関係がありそうです。というのもこのシングルのカバーにはフォークのようなものを仮面に見立てているDylan Bradyが写っていますがMF Doomは仮面をつけているラッパーとして有名だったからです。
正直なところ最初から最後まで意味があるんだか無いんだかわからない曲ですが、Laura Lesが”It’s about chips on tv and weird dreams. I hope you enjoy :)” -この曲はテレビで流れてるスナック菓子とヘンテコな夢についてだよ。楽しんでくれるといいな😀- と言っているように、寝るときに流れていたドリトスやフリートスなどのCMのせいでおかしくなってしまった夢について説明しているのでしょうか。
